The 11th annual Trans-Pecos Festival of Music + Love takes place this week in Marfa, Texas. Held at the idyllic El Cosmico campgrounds, revelers and merrymakers make the journey to Marfa once a year for music, workshops, art, adventuring, and more.
This year’s Trans-Pecos Festival boasts an impressive lineup including Grammy winning country darling Kacey Musgraves, Nathaniel Ratliff & The Night Sweats, Neko Case, Wye Oak, Eleanor Friedberger and more!
During the day, attendees can partake in activities ranging from tie-dying, to weaving, to ‘love potion’ making. There’s also plenty of wonders to explore in town, including the Marfa Ballroom, The Chinati Foundation, the Marfa Lights, The Museum of Electronic Wonders & Late Night Grilled Cheese Parlour, and the list goes on.
While Marfa has established an international presence thanks to the iconic Prada Marfa installation, famed sculptor Donald Judd put the town on the map when he moved to the West Texas outpost in the 70s.
Whether you’re attending the fest or staying put (for now), set the West Texas mood with my Trans-Pecos playlist, Marfa Bound.
The playlist features 2016 performing artists as well as cosmic sounds perfect for a long drive in the countryside. Turn the music up, roll the windows down, and enjoy the ride.
