Brooklyn duo The Hundred in the Hands, released their self-titled debut album this past fall. Signed to Warp Records, you already know they are a band worth your attention. Singer-keyboardist Eleanore Everdell and guitarist/beat-maker Jason Friedman make great music together. Everdell has a gorgeous whimpering voice that’s paired with infectious “avant pop” as they call it. The two formed a group after bonding over their shared love/inspiration for similar music including French house and disco, British mod and pop from the 60’s and 80’s. Needless to say there’s a mix of all these dynamic genres in their music. Rife with bold synths and strong melodies, the album makes for loud listening and letting loose.
