Florence and the Machine’s debut album Lungs has taken fans breathe away. Melancholic love songs, sassy pop-rock songs, and a soulful, memorizing voice has put singer/songwriter Florence Welch on the map. From the doleful “Dog Days Are Over” to the catchy “Kiss With a Fist” Welch has listeners holding their breath in anticipation for the next song.
As Spin describes in the review 20 Albums That Matter Most, a talented team gave life to this album. “Lungs, atmospherically produced by the trio of Paul Epworth (Bloc Party, Kate Nash), James Ford (Arctic Monkeys, Simian Mobile Disco), and Steve Mackey (Pulp), is a claws-out breakup album with a crafty balance of chirpy melody and bloody rage.”
In sum, Lungs is a breath of fresh air.
