Sound Dessert premiers Taylor & The Wild Now’s “Gold Dust,” the follow up to slinky summer ballad, “Salt.” The reverberating “Gold Dust” shimmers with glistening cords and echoing vocals.
Weighted down with nostalgia and melancholia, the single sings of the promise of what could have been: “Waiting on forever takes a long time, I’d rather say goodbye,” sings lead vocalist Taylor Baker.
Just as the year comes to a close, and the days continue to get shorter, “Gold Dust” finds itself at a crossroads and running out of time. Does one keep foraging ahead or walk away from something that’s not working?
“We never know if something is going to turn out the way we want it to,” says Baker. “This song is about those in-between moments when you decide to keep seeking and pursuing.”
Taylor & The Wild Now describe “Gold Dust” as bittersweet. Even when things don’t work out as planned, there’s still a silver lining to be found. The key is to not lose sight of that spark. Says Baker, “‘gold dust’ signifies a person or a dream and the promises lost.”
