Sound Dessert’s 14 Most Anticipated Albums of 2014

We’re two weeks into the New Year, which means most of you are probably struggling to hold on to those resolutions if you haven’t given up on them altogether. It’s true, January 17th is National Ditch New Year’s Resolutions Day because humans are pansies and most of us give up on ourselves by then.Want something that will actually sustain you throughout the new year? The answer is new music my friends, the gift that keeps on giving.

Let me tell you, 2014 promises some legit releases from artists I obsess the most over. Ditch those half-hearted resolutions and set your sights on Sound Dessert’s 14 Most Anticipated Albums of 2014 (plus one for good luck)!

1. Solange – TBA
Girl is collaborating with Dirty Projectors’ Dave Longstreth, Chairlift’s Patrick Wimberly and Sampha (SBTRKT, Jessie Ware), so expect amazing things.

2. Robyn – TBA
I was so pumped when I heard Robyn was releasing a new album this year, especially since I kept telling all my friends that I hoped she would. WHAT’S MORE she’ll be touring with Röyksopp (does this mean they’ll be releasing new music too?). Thanks Robyn for having my back.

3. Twin Shadow – TBA
It’s Twin Shadow and he’s everything.

4. Frank Ocean – Summer 2014.
One can only guess what nuggets of musical genius will befall when Ocean releases his sophomore effort.

5. OutKast – TBA
Fairy Godmother Queen Latifah says it’s happening.

6. tUnE-yArDs – Sink-o (working title), Release date TBA
Expect something delightful, experimental and inspired by a folkloric and contemporary dance course the singer took in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.

7. Pharrell – TBA
The R&B crooner is on top of his game right now (as evident from his collaborations with Daft Punk and Robin Thicke). Let’s see what this maverick has up his sleeve when he does his own thing.

8. Mac DeMarco – Salad Days, April 2014
This dude is so loveable and witty. If you haven’t seen him live, fix that immediately. His dirty charm and off-color humor is impossible to resist.

9. Christopher Owens – Spring 2014
The former Girls front-man has everyone wondering what’s in store for his solo release. In the meantime, he’s been dipping his toe in the fashion world modeling for Yves Saint Laurent and H&M. Expect some stylish music videos as a result.

10. Grimes – September 2014
The most amazing things surface from this girl’s mind.

11. Julian Casablancas – Voidz (working title).
The Strokes frontman can do no wrong and embodies nyc rock at it’s finest.

12. Lily Allen – TBA
She released a new single “Air Balloon” and a new album will supposedly soon follow. It’ll be good to have the sharp-witted singer back in the spotlight.

13. Broken Bells – After The Disco, February 4th
The delicious pairing that is James Mercer and Danger Mouse unite once again for a second round of delightful indie-dance tracks.

14. Lana Del Rey – Ultra-Violence, Release date TBA.
Whether you love or hate her, you can’t help but watch her. Lana still has us seeing and guessing what she’ll do next.

15. Wild Beasts – Present Tense, February 25th
The british band’s debut release Smother, was something else. Frontman Hayden Thorpe has the most striking voice (in the Antony Hegarty realm), I can’t wait to hear more of it.
