You may not recognize Miike Snow by name, but you’ve definitely heard their work. The trio is comprised of New York native Andrew Wyatt, and acclaimed Swedish producers Christian Karlsson and Pontus Winnberg. The Swedish duo has worked with the likes of Maddona, Britney Spears and Kylie Minogue under their production name Bloodshy & Avant. So how did they come up with the name Miike Snow? It’s a tribute to a good friend of theirs.
Miike Snow’s self-titled debut album will captivate you with its lovely melodies and earnest lyrics. A journey of self-reflection and attempting to discover the path towards a meaningful and satisfying life. From lyrics like “There is a hole and I tried to fill it up with money, money, money./But it gets bigger to your hopes, it’s always running, running, running” in “Animal,” to “All my life I’ve been the slave of consequence/wondering how this life could be so intricate./I wanna rewrite my heart and let the future in” in “Cult Logic” the album will prompt listeners to contemplate the same. A beautifully crafted album that anyone can relate to, especially now, when the economy seems to have everyone re-examining what they want out of life.
Be sure to check out tracks “Animal,” “Black and Blue” and “Cult Logic.”
