Red Bull is throwing sick concerts all over the country under their Sound Selects series. This month alone there’s events happening in Austin, New York City, Minneapolis, Philadelphia, West Hollywood, Chicago, Nashville, Dallas, Atlanta and Seattle.
The shows are free but there’s a catch. To get access, you have to prove your worth by tweeting, facebooking, etc about the upcoming show/lineup. The scheduled artists will then handpick the music fans they see most deserving to attend. Pretty cool, right?
The Austin concert is July 27th at Stubb’s featuring rapper Theophilus London and The Dandy Warhols, who’ve been celebrating the 13th anniversary of Thirteen Tales From Urban Bohemia. Supporting acts include Austin’s The Sour Notes and Gentlemen Rogues.
It’s a combination I’m pretty excited about. I’ve been a fan of The Dandy Warhols since 2004 when I discovered them through The O.C. (yes I used to watch that show and their music supervisor was great). “We Used To Be Friends” and “Bohemian Like You” are two favorites that get me feeling a bit nostalgic.
As for Theophilus London, I may or may have not submitted head-shots to be an extra in one of his music videos back in 2011 (I didn’t get picked). Anyway I love to get down to his slick songs, so this concert promises to deliver.
Fans have until Friday, July 12th to be considered for the show. So sign up ASAP and be in the know about all future Sound Selects shows.
