Pharrell Williams guest curates This Is Not A Toy, currently on display at the Design Exchange in Toronto, Canada. The exhibit features works by Takashi Murakami & KAWS, Misaki Kawai, Nara, FriendsWithYou and more and explores the conceptual toy as an art and design object and contemporary cultural signifier. On view until May 19, This Is Not A Toy takes viewers into a color-saturated world of larger-than-life objects.
Can I get a time-out and a plane ticket? Because I really want to see this show in the flesh. Someone get me a plush toy to hug.
For the record, this isn’t the first time Pharrell has delved into the art world. In 2008 he designed the “Perspective” chair in collaboration with Domeau & Pérès which was shown in gai Paris.
Take a look at some of the pieces on display for This Is Not A Toy. Pharrell’s basically succeeded in music, art, fashion and world domination. What will the “Happy” singer think of next?
