Oh Land has been a Sound Dessert favorite from the get-go. The Danish pop singer and daydreamer’s fantastical world is one you never want to leave. Luckily, Oh Land revealed a new taste from her upcoming album, Wish Bone, out September 22nd via Federal Prism.
The single “Renaissance Girls” retains Oh Land’s whimsical touch, but with a sharper tongue this go-around, as she shares her “version of a Renaissance Girl”. What does this entail exactly? In a word: multitasking. Coyly the singer quips, “I’ll release my mind you can be my back bone / I call you honey you can cry on my shoulder / Let it all breath, I got a degree in psychology.”
From knitting to doing the laundry to “planning for the future”, Oh Land’s renaissance girls simultaneously cater to and defy traditional sensibilities, as the chorus repeats, “move forward, move forward.”
The punchy pop song totally makes me want to “come along” and join Oh Land’s movement. Whatever you do, don’t mistake her for an ingénue.
