Marina and The Diamonds is back with a new album rumored to be released next month. She has a scintillating new music video out for her single “Radioactive.” The gorgeous brunette becomes a sultry blonde dancing in the dessert and stirring up trouble in a diner. The song is as glorious as the name implies. This is no tame ballad, but a high-voltage dance track.
The “Radioactive” video is Part 2 to Part 1’s “Fear And Loathing.” In both videos Marina channels “Electra Heart” a character she created that “embodies the lies, illusions and death of an American Dream,” she writes on her website.
As Marina explains in an interview with Popjustice:
Electra Heart is the antithesis of everything that I stand for. And the point of introducing her and building a whole concept around her is that she stands for the corrupt side of American ideology, and basically that’s the corruption of yourself. My worst fear – that’s anyone’s worst fear – is losing myself and becoming a vacuous person. And that happens a lot when you’re very ambitious.
As she sings on “Radioactive,” “Lying on a fake beach, you’ll never get a tan.” It’s time to ditch the spray tan (Jersey Shore anyone?) and start a revolution.
