Chicago’s My Gold Mask have released their latest dose of haunting pop. “Severed” cuts to the heart of the matter, specifically, the withdrawal over losing someone. Lead vocalist Gretta Rochelle sings “don’t leave me in pieces”, as she struggles to come to terms with a relationship’s end.
The horror lover’s continue to embrace the film genre in their songwriting with great execution. As the ballad nears the end Gretta sings, “this is my heart, you remember its sound”, as the steady beat of the drum slowly fades to silence.
