Are you doing a double-take? So was I when I saw the cast of the new Jesus Christ Superstar arena spectacular. JC Chasez, Michelle Williams, Brandon Boyd, Johnny Rotten? All in a musical together? More perplexing is how I never saw any gossip or news about the touring musical until the tour dates were announced last week. If you want to relive the early 2000’s glory days, you’re in luck, chances are they’re coming to a city near you.
SO here’s the breakdown: Michelle Williams of Destiny’s Child is Mary Magdalene, JS Chasez of ‘N Sync plays Pontius Pilot, Johnny Rotten of The Sex Pistols plays King Herod and Brandon Boyd of Incubus will be Judas Iscariot.
For those of you who aren’t familiar, Jesus Christ Superstar is a rock opera by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice that recounts the last week of Jesus’ life, as recorded in the Gospel.
