Jamie xx has worked on a number of solo projects over the past few years, from collaborating with Gil-Scott Heron to remixing and reworking dozens of tracks by contemporary artists from Adele to Florence Welch.
Now the producer has announced the release of his debut album, In Color, coming June 1st. Along with the news comes the lead single off the album, “Loud Places,” featuring vocals by The xx bandmate Romy. The uplifting track has elements of dance, gospel and disco. Romy sings, “Didn’t I take you to higher places” as a resounding choir echoes the sentiment.
The video features Jamie xx and Romy skateboarding at an urban skatepark after sundown as colorful confetti rains down.
Let “Loud Places” be your soundtrack to Spring, because I guarantee it will make you want to get out and be among the living.
