One of the first bands I wrote about when I started this blog is the Swedish indie-popsters Those Dancing Days, and tunes like the dancey self titled “Those Dancing Days” and the bemused “Hitten. Now the quintet is getting ready to release their newest album Daydreams and Nightmares (available March 7th) through Wichita Recordings.
Not to leave fans hanging, the girls are getting into the Valentine’s spirit and releasing their latest single “I’ll Be Yours” this month. The song has the same fun, poppy makeup the band is known for and it’s all about the love. Not sappy romance and nothing that will make the single crowd feel spiteful on this silly holiday, but a feel good song about the people you love – your family, your friends, and (hey why not?) yourself. As drummer Cissi Efraimsson explained to Spinner, “This song is about any kind of love lasting for a lifetime, so the video shows us hanging out with our nearest and dearest. Some parts were filmed at home and others on tour. Nothing was directed, so it’s all very much us!”
What could be better than that? Appreciating all the relationships you value in your life – that’s what Valentine’s day should really be about. I think this song communicates just that and is perfect for celebrating the day right. Linnea Jönsson has a beautiful calming voice that’s sure to raise spirits. I’m excited to hear the album in full. For a teaser of what to expect you can pre-listen to the new album here!
