Iceland’s New Artist To Watch: Pascal Pinon

Pascal Pinon is comprised of Icelandic twin sisters Jófrídur and Ásthildu. The pair just released “Þerney (One Thing)”, the first single off their upcoming sophomore album, appropriately titled, Twosomeness. The album, out February 5th via Morr Music, was produced by Alex Somers who’s worked with notable Icelanders, Sígur Rós and Jonsí.

The single features breathy vocals set to twinkling, undulating keyboard and guitar strokes. A bittersweet song about facing, and eventually accepting, the ‘one thing’ that can lead everything off course, the sisters sing, “With a tiny heart beating as quietly as it can I stand, I surrender. I guess happiness is only for the innocent.” Similar to Sigur Ros the seemingly gentle song contains great strength and depth. Consider Pascal Pinon an artist to watch.
