Cults, Death Cab for Cutie, Deerhoof, The Dodos, Fleet Foxes, Matt & Kim, Peter Bjorn & John, Regina Spektor and Xiu Xiu are a mere few of the artists releasing new music and exclusive tracks for this years Record Store Day on April 16th.
That’s right it’s this Saturday! That means you can spend the whole day shopping for limited edition records like Adele’s Rolling in the Deep (Jamie XX Shuffle)”/”Rolling In the Deep (Live at World Café)”, Beth Ditto’s exclusive vinyl release of her new EP and Daft Punk’s exclusive track ‘Castor’, from the Tron Legacy soundtrack. Pretty good stuff.
Given the nature of the music industry – how long do you think Record Store Day can last? Is there enough buying power and support to keep record stores alive, or are they all going to eventually succumb to an analog death in a world of digital downloads? Either way, Record Store Day is currently alive and well so lets indulge in some good old fashioned retail shopping while we can.
