Aren’t We All Just Casual Strangers?

At the end of the day, aren’t we all just ‘casual strangers’? Between Facebook, Twitter and Instagram we’re connecting with more people than ever before, but barely know anything about them beyond selfies and ‘like’ activity.

“In a time of fragmented virtual reality and reduced privacy” emerges Casual Strangers, a synth-pop meets psych-rock band “born of the cosmic sludge of Austin, Texas.” Austin really is a fusion of cosmic and sludge now that they mention it, don’t you agree?

Back to the band: inspired by the 70s, 80s and 90s, each Casual Strangers track delivers something a little bit different from the next, led by the slinky vocals of singer Katey Gunn. One minute you could be compelled to head-bang (“Looking Good“), while the next you’ll feel like lying in the grass and staring at the clouds (“Casual Strangers (We Used To Be Friends)”).

It works perfectly for all the moods.

Casual Strangers celebrate the release of their self-titled vinyl with a show at Mohawk Austin this Saturday, December 13th. Get tickets here.
