A Silent Film Turn Up The Volume On Sand & Snow

British rockers A Silent Film are readying to release their sophomore album Sand & Snow on June 5th. The magnetic rockers have toured with heavy hitters One Republic, The Temper Trap, Smashing Pumpkins, Sleigh Bells and more. With that roster it comes as no surprise that A Silent Film are power players in their own right. On Sand & Snow, soaring anthems are paired with vigorous drums, mellifluous keyboard strokes and (if I’m not mistaken) a chorus of string instruments, creating a crisp, clear sound.

After a successful US tour, A Silent Film packed up their bags and settled in Arizona to record Sand & Snow. Fascinated with the country, the whole album is inspired by Americana and cultural icons such as Bob Dylan and Jack Kerouac.

On their single “Danny Dakota & The Wishing Well,” vocalist Robert Stevenson’s rich voice croons over a slow building reverb, before launching into a full throttle pop rock ballad. It’s a powerful song about two people trying to repair a fractured relationship. Stevenson tells Spinner: “Danny, Dakota and the Wishing Well is a love song to a bygone era of Americana that inspired us in books and films when we were growing up in England.”
